What is Prop 65?Updated 7 months ago

Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law designed to inform consumers about exposure to chemicals that may cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. It was created through a ballot initiative in reaction to the discovery of dangerous pollutants contaminating the California water supply. The law requires businesses to provide warnings if their products or operations expose people to any of over 900 chemicals, both naturally occurring and synthetic, that may contribute to cancer or reproductive harm, or both. These warnings allow consumers to make informed decisions about the products they use and the places they visit.
